I have always loved easter and tried out so many ways to make it fun for my dogs as-well. So, here are some of my absolute favourite things to do for my dogs when it’s holiday time!
Make an Easter Basket For Dogs
A dog easter basket will make your pup feel special. It doesn’t have to be expensive or take too much effort, you can simply stuff a basket with all their favourite toys and treats! Put some fun coloured paper for them to tear (be careful they don’t eat it) and VOILA! Happy easter Dog Easter!
Okay put seriously, in my opinion this is what you need for your easter basket for dogs:
Treats (Your dog’s favourite)
Carrots (Put some health and teeth cleaning in that basket)
A fresh bone from the butcher’s
New toys or just his favourite toys
An egg shaped ball! – trust me he will love this one! especially if it bounces a bit.
If you can find some sort of easter eggs that can hold treats inside of them, this would be a great game for your dog! Put some yummy and smelly treats into the easter eggs and let your do figure out how to get it out of the egg. Best easter basket for dogs!

Easter Egg Hunt for Dogs
Make an easter egg hunt for your dog to stimulate your dog’s mind and have fun of course. It is so important to train your dog every once in a while to keep their minds active, and for creating a solid bond between you.
Choosing the eggs
When choosing eggs for the easter egg hunt for dogs, please be aware of the size. If your dog is a big dog that loves to eat everything he comes near, I would probably get really large and solid eggs. We don’t want your dog to choke on an egg.
If you don’t want your dog to have plastic easter eggs, make a homemade dog treat for easter and use them for the easter egg hunt.
Put treats into the egg
Put a tiny piece of treat in each egg. Your dog be finding several eggs therefore, use small treats so they don’t end up eating too much.
For his first egg hunt, place the eggs in mowed grass or a flat surface so they are easy to find. When he gets good at the game, then you can hide them in more difficult places. Place them under bushes, in tall grass, behind a lawn statue, or inside a bucket on its side. This is why treats with a strong scent are best.
The rules of the egg hunt
Keep your dog on leash, then walk him to the first egg and say with a happy voice: “What’s that?”.
Point at the egg, and when he touches the egg with his nose or paw, pick it up and give him the treat.
If he doesn’t touch the egg, get him excited about the egg and touch it yourself, so he touches it.
Dog’s are smart and if you keep doing this a couple of times I’m sure your dog will get the hang of the game!
Remember to verbally praise your dog always and be careful with all the human treats and chocolates around easter time! Dogs can get really sick if they eat treats made for humans.
Happy Easter everyone!
